Characterize Eragon

All throughout the book I always think that he is like in the age about 17-18, but he is only 15, and I think that he is only 15 and can do so much stuff, and when I was still 15, I can't really do so much and never been away from my family. He is very brave, loving, caring, faithful, strong, intelligent, quick learner. I was surprise because he is very young and be able to face so many problems in his life and he have no parent to take care of him, he is all on his own, but manage to survive and be a hero. I think that he follow nearly all of the hero quest pattern. Except one thing is that he didn't get to return home yet. But he have no one to go already because his parent are gone. His uncle were killed, and his cousin is married to a girl that he love and make a family.

Chapter 47-61

Oh my goodness, I finally finish the book. All I can say about these chapters is that, I have a hard time stop reading because everything is happening and everything is exciting. My favorite would be when Eragon fought with the King. I was so scared that he would get hurt, but he was fine. It ended in a nice happy ending, (well kind of^^")

Chapter 44-46

I'm nearly at the end of the book. But I didn't reach the climax yet. In this three chapters Eragon and Murtagh went thought the desert. (I always got mixed up if desert is spelled with one S or two S, but I try to remember that a dry desert has one S). I feel that I am having a harder time understand the book in full detail like before. But I still think that I can understand it.
One thing that I learned about dragons in this book is that dragons like to be in a warm place, it gives them more excitement. Today I don’t know what’s wrong with myself, I haven’t finish the book yet and I ordered the next version of the book already, and when I compare the size of the book. The next book has 100 more pages. It seems huge for me, but I think that I will survive if I am reading it for fun.

Chapter 39-43

Well, I read another 5 chapters today. This week I tried to read as much as I can.
In this 5 chapters it is very exciting. Eragon was caught and got drugged, so he couldn't help himself for that day, but when he woke up he felt better and he did not eat any food or drink any water at all, so he felt better because the drug were in the food and water. When he be able to remember the magic spell, he unlock the jail cell and his new friend that he made in the journey Murtagh came to help him escape. Not just that they escape without getting hurt a lot, they brought an elf with them. When they got out of the town, Eragon quickly trying to heal the elf. He healed her until morning came and because he was so tired. I fall a sleep on the horse and Murtagh just take care of the journey.

I think that the way that I tell you, didn't sound as interesting as the book.
About 200 pages more ^^". It sound a lot but I think that I will be able to finish reading it.

Chapter 38

This is such a sad chapter. Brom died, then something came into my mind. I suddenly remembered what I had learn in class today. Which is that the helper can't help anymore and the the main character have to survive on his own. If I am the main character in the book, I would be shock also because he is the one that taught everything. The magic, the defense. Without him, Eragon will not get to learn new magic anymore. It was sad, I don't really like sad chapters in the book. :'(

Chapter 34-37

Well, I didn't read a lot today only 4 chapter. 3 chapters lesser than yesterday.

In these 3 chapters it is quite scary in some part and some of the paragraph I was confuse and it was hard for me to understand it. But in these 4 chapters they went into a very big dirty town. They stayed in a very dirty motel to have a rest. Eragon is so scared that there are bugs on the bed, so he decided to sleep on the floor. The next morning when Eragon woke up Brom was already gone, but Brom leave a note for him on the wall. So Eragon went out to see the city. He saw an auction for the slave. When I was reading this part. I think to myself that. I can't believe that they are people too and they sell them in auction like an animal, and I can't believe that this event happened in the history.

But lets continue the story. Eragon couldn't be able to handle seeing people got treated that way, so he went into the cathedral, and when he look back he was the Urgals was standing there looking at him. So he run and run and run as fast as he could and got back to the motel and gather all of his stuff and when Brom come they quickly left the town.

That night, this chapter is the scariest so far. When the sunset, and everything was dark and suddenly Eragon heard a movement and went to see and then suddenly he was knock and fainted, and the Urgals drugged him. Making him can’t be able to remember the magic spell. So he can’t help himself, and the Urgals was thinking of killing Brom and he stabbed him with a knife and someone came to help them just in time. When I read the line that Brom got stab it is really scary, and the way that the Urgals speak is very scary too, like their accept have too much s, v, c, sound. Making them like a snake talking. But I am glad that someone came to help them just in time. Eragon also try to use a spell to heal Brom and it did work. I was happy about that. These 4 chapters are full of excitement. Maybe after I finish this book, I would be very likely to read the book of the next version.

Chapter 27-33

Wow I read 7 chapters today, but I should be reading at least 9 chapters, but I don't think that I would be able to read it any more for today. In these chapters it was ok, not so much exciting things happened. But I did not get bored reading it. In these chapters, Eragon left Teirm and went into another town. While they were traveling, so many things happened. Eragon fought with 12 Urgals by himself, and because he used such a strong spell that he feel a little for 2 days. Then I think to myself that it would be awful sleeping for two days. I feel like sleeping 9 hours a day is a lot already. I always want to be awake and do things all the time. In this book there are so many names for the people and animals, and cities. I was surprised that such a person would be able to express his imagination so powerful, so detailed.

Chapter 22-26

I read 5 chapters today. In this chapter Eragon and his uncle went from town to town and then finally Brom met his friend, and they talk and talk and stay there to find more information. Even thought this chapter doesn’t have a lot of things happening. I didn’t seem to be bored reading it. I am scared too because there are 4 days left to read this book and I still have 37 chapters to go. So I have to read at least 9 chapters a day.

Audio Book vs. Silence reading

I was really surprise how this two methods of reading is very different in the term of understanding. I don’t know about other people, but when I read this book, I normally read it and listen to the CD at the same time. When I read the book without a CD, I feel that there is no imagination that ran through my head. When I listen to the CD at the same time, I have a much easier time understanding it and giving me to be able to imagine the picture out.

Chapter 18-21

Wow I read four chapters today.

Now the story is getting more and more exciting. Now Eragon learned how to use his spell, and each day he is getting better and better at it. All I can say is that it is really exciting and some part of the book sound so scary that I nearly stop reading, but I continue to read it.

Chapter 15-17

I can't believe myself that I read so slow.

In this 3 chapters Eragon have to leave the town because the villagers started to feel that something unusual is happening and they feel that Eragon have something to do with it. So Eragon quickly pack up and Brom come with him too. First they stayed for a night in the tree near his farm, and the next morning Eragon and Brom started walking and Saphira was flying above them. Now they are traveling very slow and it took many days to reach another town. When they reach another town. Brom brought Eragon and himself a horse to ride on so they could catch up with the Ra'zac(a not human creature that have no magic power but can jump so high and have so much strength). When it is time to leave the town Brom told Eragon that the villager in this village saw the Ra'zac passing this way too. Days passed and they reached the dessert.

This chapter is quite a long chapter but it doesn't have so much going on, so I can't be able to describe it into a long paragraph. But each step into the book gets more intense.

Eragon in book & video

Because I just got into this book so much, so I went to the library to borrow an Eragon movie even though I haven’t finish the book yet.
After reading the book and watching the video, I found that there are a lot of things that is very different from the book.
The way Saphira developed and how Eragon took care of Saphira was different. In the movie, Saphira came out of an egg like in the book, but in the movie he tried to feed her with a milk, and Saphira tare the milk bag apart so it swallowed the mice when it ran past Saphira. In the book Eragon brought meet for Saphira everyday. The way that Eragon got his scar was quite different too. In the movie the way that he got the scar is that, after Saphira hatched and Eragon sleep with Saphira, and the next morning he got the scar, in the book it said that Eragon got his scar from touching Saphira for the first time.
I feel like the book explains and give more detail than in the movie. When I read more into the book, I found so many things that it hasn’t been mentioned in the movie. Like by riding on Saphira the skin on Eragon’s leg was scratched and torn away. Which sounds really horrible. But I feel that even thought I watched the movie, it doesn’t stop me from reading the book, because the book have so much more things happened than in the movie.

I really enjoyed this book really much.

Chapter 12-14

In this three chapters Eragon woke up and Sapphira take Eragon back to his Uncle house. When he reaches the house everything was destroyed, and his uncle were badly injured, so Eragon ask Sapphira to take his uncle to the village to get help, and because Sapphira can’t carry a lot of people on her. She is so tired, and fly not as fast as before. So she flew down to have a rest and so Eragon have to bring his uncle to the village by himself. Not so long his cousin Roran came and helped Eragon brought his uncle to Carvahall Village. Eragon was so tired and fall a sleep for two whole days.

When Eragon woke up he was in a house, and someone was taking care of him, and his uncle. When Eragon woke up, he thought nothing except Saphira and his uncle. So he really wanted to go and see his uncle right away, but he have to eat some food first before he will be able to go. After Eragon ate his food, the lady took Eragon to see his uncle. His uncle did not wake up yet. So he just stay right they’re sitting beside him. Soon Horst came and then asks him about his stone, and Eragon have to lie a bit. Soon after Horst done asking Eragon questions Saphira contacted him right away.

It was dark again when he looked at the window, so he went to sleep. But before he went to sleep he went to see his uncle one more time and when he is sure that he will be all right he return to the bed and sleep.

In the next morning, Eragon woke up and quickly go into his uncle room, and he was surprised because the room was full of people. His uncle passed away, tears filled Eragon’s eyes and Sapphira tried to contact Eragon, but Eragon ignored it, and let himself express his sorrow.

This three chapters is really sad and scary.

Chapter 8-11

Today I read chapter 8 to 11, I feel like each chapter into the book, the more interesting it gets.

In chapter 8: Eragon thought of a name to give to his dragon, and he was lasting all of the male name for a dragon, not knowing that his dragon is a female, and when he noticed that his dragon is a female he switches to the list of female names, and finally he named her Saphira. Which I think that it is a really nice name too.

From chapter 9 till 11:
Roran got a job to be a miller to make money, because he wanted to get married. So he have to leave the family. On the night that Roran have to leave, Eragon went with him when they reach there Eragon stayed a little bit then one old man said to Eragon that there is a stranger coming to the town trying to find the egg. The stranger dresses all black and a hood cover the head, everyone could be able to sense bad things when they saw the stranger. So Eragon hurried home, when he haven't reach home yet Saphira quickly took him and flew him into the mountain, and Saphira was frighten. She won't bring Eragon back to the farm to warn his uncle. Soon they have a rest in the mountain and it is getting dark. So Saphira made a tent for Eragon by using her wing to cover him, and Eragon could laid on her warm body.

That's what I read so far today. I really feel that it is getting really interesting right now.

Chapter 1-7

I have been reading 7 chapters into the book, and I really liked the book very much. Not just that it is very interesting, and once I read it, it is very hard to put down. Just keep wanting to know what will happen next.

In chapter 1-7 the story begin: In a small town, and that small town there was a boy name Eragon. He went hunting in the spine (the forbidden forest). He couldn't be able to hunt any animal to bring home. Then suddenly he found a blue shiny rock on the ground, and when he knock on it, it made a reall weired noise, and the rock is so smooth, smoother than the other rock, so he thought that he could take this rock and trade for the meat in the town.

When he went back to the town and went into the butcher shop. He was trying to trade the stone with the bucher and when the butcher knew that the rock was from the spine, he rejected it right away. Then one man came in and said that he would be willing the trade the rock with Eragon. So the man brought the meat for Eragon, and decided to return the rock back and told Eragon that Eragon could come and help him to pay back for the meat.

When Eragon reach home, his uncle were very upset about the meat that Eragon got, but soon finally accept the meat.

Then Eragon and his uncle went to the market to ask the seller if he would be able to sell it to him. But he still got rejected. So they came home and put the rock some where safe. Not so long after that Eragon realize that the rock that he got from the spine is not a rock, but an egg, a dragon egg. When he touch the baby drgon his hand burned and the scar on his hand appeared. So now Eragon have to hide the dragon, so he found a place to put the dragon, and build a nest for the dragon to stay in. The dragon grew and grew. In one week the dragon was as high as Eragon's knee. So one day Eragon went to the wise man in the own to ask him about the dragon. Eragon got so many answers from the wise man and soon decided to leave and went to make sure that the dragon is safe.
